If you are like a lot of people, you may initially be uncomfortable with the idea of targeting your friends. And in some cases you may be wise to avoid selling to friends. We have had many clients who have told us that they simply don’t want to risk valued friendships by bringing up the subject of business. There is the risk of imposing on friends. There is the risk of revealing neediness. There is the risk that a business deal could damage friendship, especially if things don’t work out well.
On the other hand, it would be unfortunate to eliminate the possibility of doing business with someone simply because he or she is a friend. Many of our clients say that their best clients are their friends.
The solution is to review the names of each of your friends to determine if your discomfort is justified. If you decide to do business with friends, there are many safe and effective ways of communicating with them.
